The griffin, a symbol from Celtic mythology, is a conspicuous image in London. What is the significance of this four-legged, winged beast?
The griffin is to be found upon the coinage of the Iceni tribe, which inhabited part of the area now known as Greater London. It has survived as the emblem of the city itself and is posted on all the boundaries of the City of London. It is an appropriate emblem, since the griffin was a legendary monster which guarded gold mines and buried treasure.
The Griffins holding shields that bear the City's arms: St.George's cross and also a red sword: the very sword used to slay Watt Tyle, leader of ENGLISH PEASANTS' REVOLT, 1381 .
We demand that this sword be removed from the CoL coat of arms and declare that if this is not done then we shall call upon the griffins themselves to remove or denounce it!
As an initial starting point for our Mayday and Jubilee celebrations, and as a development in our psychic attacks on the Corporative Dictatorship in our city, QCSFC will be having full penatrative sex with every single Griffin statue around the borders of the City of London in an attempt to liberate these beasts from their stony prisons. After our mating rituals, the Gryffyn will burst into flames and leap into the air with us on their back before flying off into the heart of the sun!!!
The griffins have been known for centuries as symbols of strength and vigilance, and have been called "The Hounds of Zeus". In some mythologies, they represent the wealth of the sun. In others, they are said to have hoards of fabulous treasure, which they guard endlessly. Griffins are portrayed with a lion's body, an eagle's head, long ears, and an eagle's claws, to indicate that one must combine intelligence and strength. To this majickal conjunction we shall enjoin human form in sensual union and liberate the malign energies that capitalist occultists have been using to alchemically process and mind control the citizrens of London for too long!
